Condiments are a part of nearly every meal, yet they are one of the most common sources of hidden sugars and artificial ingredients. Making your own condiments is one of the EASIEST ways to make strides toward helping your family be as healthy as they can be.

Let’s face it – condiments are part of nearly every meal.

What’s salad without salad dressing, chips without salsa, or even egg rolls without their quintessential plum sauce?

Yet store-bought condiments are absolutely laden with high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, and even genetically-modified foods. Since these foods are part of our everyday eating routines, that means we end up eating more than the occasional treat made with those undesirable ingredients. Yikes.

But there’s a simple solution. Make your own! Making your own condiments takes only a few minutes a day and it’s one of the EASIEST ways to make large strides in keeping those unwanted ingredients out of your home and in helping your family be as healthy as they can be.

From the Introduction:

“I don’t know about you, but when I feed my children good food, it’s not just in order to avoid the “bad” stuff, but it’s to be proactively nourishing them so that they’re filled with the “good” stuff.

“I’ve worked and reworked these recipes (and here’s my huge shout out to the 254 recipe testers who gave me amazingly helpful feedback through the process!) to make them taste as close to the store-bought originals as possible. Store-bought yellow mustard has that certain – je ne sais quoi – perky tangy zing, and I wanted to make sure these homemade versions captured as much of those unmistakable flavors as possible.”

A Few FAQ’s

Is there a print copy available?

No. This is a DIGITAL book in PDF format. The link to download it will be delivered via e-mail and there is no paper copy available (until you print it out, that is… )

That said, you are more than welcome to print out a copy or two for yourself – either at home or a print shop – so you have a hard-copy on hand.

(You aren’t allowed to print out multiple copies, however, either to sell or give away. Just so you know.)

If you would prefer to have a paperback book rather than a digital book, check out the companion book, The DIY Pantry , published by Adams Media, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.

I am allergic to corn/peanuts/eggs/soy and eat kosher/vegetarian/grain-free/dairy-free. Can I still use this book?

Like all recipes at NourishingJoy.com, the one criteria for our recipes is 100% real food and no industrially processed anything.

That said, many of the recipes DO fit the above criteria, but they’re not created with that in mind, so not EVERY recipe will be corn-free, grain-free, kosher, or whatever your specific need may be.

Again, we aim to provide real food recipes that make it easy for families to not rely on boxed, canned, and processed ingredients, and to use fresh, easy-to-find ingredients.

This is a DIGITAL product. It will be delivered as a PDF via email, which can be downloaded and printed on either a home printer or at a print shop. Nothing will be shipped to you.
